1. Know Your Limitations
First and foremost, know your limitations. While it will be your class fitness instructor’s job to assess your capabilities, only you will know when you have reached your limitation. The potential for injury here is due to new bootcamp intake being extremely keen to get started and put everything into the camp – and more. Realize that you have a mountain to climb, and start that climb at a slow pace, gathering speed as your confidence and capability grows.
2. Do Not Skip Warm Up Routines
The warm up is vital to prepare your body for the exertion ahead. During warm-up your muscles and joints will loosen up and your heart rate will slowly elevate in preparation for aerobic activity. It only takes 5 or 10 minutes to warm up, but it could save you from a very early exit from bootcamp.
3. Pay Attention!
This might surprise some people, but our third tip, is to pay close attention to the instructor! At fitness bootcamp you will no doubt be doing come exercises and using some equipment that you are never seen before. The exercises will be high exertion and possibly high impact, so it is important to observe correct technique and positioning to avoid injury. Similarly, it is extremely easy to misuse equipment, especially weight machines, so listen to your instructor’s advice and guidance!

I really learned the hard way in high school about skipping warm up routines. I ran track and tried to enter a relay cold. I cramped up half way around. Not fun!
