Cornerstones Of A Fitness Bootcamp-Progress Tracking

Progress Tracking is the Tool to Improve Motivation

Without progress tracking, members of the fitness bootcamp would find it difficult to gauge progress against their goals and targets.  If they have difficulty in seeing their progress, then motivation is severely affected and their enthusiasm and attendance may slip.  They may stop coming.

Fitness bootcamp cornerstonesIf students of the bootcamp cannot gauge their own improvement, it will have a negative effect on their motivation.  Fitness bootcamp programs should therefore incorporate individual targets for each member of the group in the form of worksheets that are updated at the end of each day.  Their fitness regimen for the day, possibly including calories lost will be noted, as well as food intake, again including calories.

Measurements may be recorded weekly, e.g. arm measurements, hips, chest, etc.  These measurements can be used at the conclusion of the fitness bootcamp and compared against the records taken when members first started the workout routines.

Additionally there are some superb fitness trackers which individuals can use to record and track their own progress.  These can provide bootcamp members with excellent motivation to continue progressing towards their goals.

For tracking calorie intake we would suggest checking out Cron-O-Meter, a free web application.   It is known for its remarkably comprehensive database of foods.  Protein and vitamin intake can be recorded in addition to calories making it an excellent all round nutritional tool.  The links are at the bottom of this article.

To record the actual exercises undertaken, we suggest considering the great combination of voice-to-text service Nuance-Mobile-Life (Nuance is the developer of Dragon Naturally Speaking) for an iPhone or their FlexT9 for an Android smartphone and Gmail.  Using these apps, fitness bootcamp participants can make a call from wherever they are, and it will be automatically translated into text which then is used by Gmail’s filtering system to record the days exercise and eating in a custom fitness mailbox.  The links are at the bottom of this article.

Finally what better way to track progress than to take photographs of yourself at the end of each week! We would suggest using the same clothes in each photograph – as long as they fit, of course!  This can be a real motivational routine to get into; there is nothing better than seeing the weight come off and the body toning up after a period of regular workouts like at a fitness bootcamp!

  1. i agree 100% that progress tracking is key to motivation, its really the only way to get myself (or my kids) to day anything, lol! it has helped me loose weight, stay on a fitness plan, and has helped my kids potty train. thank you so much for all the sites and the great idea about taking a body pic each week!

  2. That’s a great idea of taking pictures each week so you can see your results. I respond better to pictures then written words. Would your bootcamp instructor have pages for you to use to record your results or would you have to bring these to camp with you?
